The NEO goes to war

I have moved to an energy conservation mode for these posts.
That means that my writing will be on an Alphasmart NEO, and downloaded to my laptop, as power allows.
Energy efficient, portable, sturdy, they are terriffic. Is this a commercial for Alphasmart?
well, I have used them in classrooms on three continents, and I think they are the greatest piece of technology to come into the classroom since Apples first invaded, but no, I am not advertising, just advocating.

Hi, I'm a friend and colleague of your daughter, Emily. Even though we've never met, I feel like I kind of know both of you, as your daughter talks of you both often.
Anyway, you've got a lot of folks here at Columbia College Chicago rooting for you, wishing you well, equally as pissed off at the stupidity of our government . . . trying to understand what the hell is going on over there.
Honestly, it seems like every time we turn on the television or open a newspaper, we're being bombarded with violence and disasters these days from all corners of the world. As much as I try, I'm finding it harder and harder to keep up, make sense of anything anymore.
Anyway, Emily says you've decided to head on to Cyprus. I'm glad to hear that you will be safe, at least. Though I can only imagine how difficult it must be to leave.
I wonder if you'll continue your blog from there . . . hope to hear more, if you can.
all the best,
Kristin,
Chicago
Hi Rob & Carol, it is Andrea (tall nice one from Enka) here. I just wanted to say how happy I am to be able to read your daily updates. You have been in my thoughts a lot (and by the sounds of it you have many concerned friends). It sounds like good news about being able to stay with friends in Cyprus! It must be hard to leave your home though. You are right, the news here just shows the devastation and stupidity of what is going on there. It is hard to imagine you and all of your friends have gone for normalcy to that in a matter of days. Be safe and well.
Andrea

Hi Rob.
Ed Hyder told me about your blog.
I have tremendous admiration for you and Carol for working in such a dangerous area, I personally could not deal with the bombs and pending dangers.
Take care of yourself!
How do you stay out of the war-torn zones? and what is the mood of native Beirutians? Joge Tsang, Worcester
